How Can You Create Your Dream Business?
When you hear the term “dream business,” what do you think of? You’re probably saying, “ It’s where I make a lot of money and don’t have to work hard to make that money.”
The money is certainly a nice feature, but the main feature that likely appeals to you is the ability to live a certain lifestyle.
After all, if you could make much money, but had to work 18-24 hours a day in order to make it, would you be happy with that lifestyle?
Would you continue doing that for many years of your life? Most everyone would say “no.” As a result, it’s the lifestyle that you truly desire; the money is just a nice bonus.
Therefore, you want to build a business that will enable you to be absent from it, while it still provides you with profits while you’re away.
This is something that won’t happen if you work at a company and something that won’t happen very easily even if you are the CEO of an offline company.
Why is this? Because one of the keys to creating your dream business is “automation.”
Aspects of a Dream Business
In fact, the following acronym describes virtually every aspect of a dream business: “FAST.”
F = Fun
You want to do work that you enjoy doing, not work that you have to slave through in order to complete the task and make money.
A = Automation
This aspect is what allows you to take time away from your business, while it still continues to pump out money for you while you are away. Modern technological advances (such as autoresponders and email) is what makes this aspect possible, showing the advantages and opportunity that is present in our world today as compared to 20-30 years ago.
S = Scalable
As your profits and your reputation increase, so does your workload. A scalable business is what will allow you to make greater profits without working harder to achieve them.
T = Time For Time Off
You’re able to step away from your business without it skipping a beat. Therefore, you can drop everything and take a vacation whenever you choose without having to wonder whether the business will survive while you are away or not.
Profits Should NOT Be Your Main Goal
As mentioned previously, profits should NOT be your main goal when creating a dream business; you need to enjoy what you are doing to ensure that it doesn’t feel like work and a drudgery to perform the tasks you do each day.
Even if you work at home online and make tons of money, you’ll still feel disappointed if you have to push yourself so hard for many hours each day to reach those profits.
Therefore, it is essential that you choose a business that you enjoy and that is tailored toward your gifts and strengths.
Main Goal to Build Your Dream Business
Choosing a reachable, but challenging, goal is a great way to continue motivating yourself. This can be labeled as a “BHAG,” or a “Big Hairy Audacious Goal.”
This should be a long-term goal that can be reached through hard work and commitment on your part.
It’s important to choose a realistic goal; shooting for an unrealistic goal that you have little chance of reaching even with a dedicated period of hard work is only going to discourage you, which can hurt your efforts to continue building your dream business.
Think of Values of Your Business
You should give careful thought and put into writing two types of statements that are representative of the values of your business – a vision statement and a mission statement. These are not quite the same thing:
Vision Statement
this is a statement that expressly states exactly where you see your business being in the future if everything works out as you see it working out.
Your actions, words, and thoughts will all work to make your vision statement a reality.
Mission Statement
This is a statement that explains why the business is in existence in the first place. What this statement will do is to describe exactly how the vision statement will be accomplished.
These statements should motivate you and your workers to continue reaching for excellence and to improve your business to the very best it can be.
It’s important to note that these statements will do you very little good if they are just empty words.
These statements need to be what you really think about your business’ objectives and what will motivate you to turn your business into your dream business.
Therefore, these are not statements that you should complete in five minutes, but rather, should be written over a matter of days through careful reflection of what you feel is truly important when it comes to the operations of your business.
Create an Action Plan for Your Business
It’s also a good idea to create an action plan for your business. A successful business can only occur by successfully completing the many small tasks that need to be completed.
This can seem overwhelming at first for a new business owner, but if you take the time to write down an action plan to break down the tasks into simple steps, you will have a greater chance of building your dream business and having it sustain for the long term.
This action plan will also prevent you from wasting precious time and resources, as you’ll know what product offers will be attractive to your customers and subscribers and what product offers will coincide with your mission and vision statements.
Conclusion
A dream business is a business that has the following main characteristics: Fun, Automation, Scalable, and Time For Time Off.
Profits are not the critical key to having a dream business; it’s the ability to live your lifestyle in the way that you want to live it while having your business continuously pumping out profits while you are away from it.
A dream business requires that you carefully consider and create meaningful vision and mission statements that really drive you and your workers to do your absolute best for the business and its success.
A dream business will have a greater chance of occurring if you take the time and effort to create an action plan so that you can successfully handle all of the small, but very important, tasks that need to be finished in order to successfully build and sustain your long-term dream business.
The action plan will also keep you from wasting valuable time and precious resources as well. By evaluating and using the information in this article, along with employing hard work and determination, you will be able to create your dream business over time and live the lifestyle that you truly want to live.
